Shelburne Golf & Country Club Details
Sam Young is in Ontario's Golf Hall of Fame for his teaching, but at Shelburne he was a course builder too. He designed and built nine new holes, renovated the existing nine to make an 18 hole layout, and added the practice ground in 1998.
The course is on the western side of the Niagara Escarpment, just north of Shelburne. It's an easy walk, but there are six spring-fed ponds and silica sand bunkers to get past. Beginners like the little three-hole course built for young juniors, because nobody's waiting behind them.
There's a no-scores ladies' night on Thursdays, and the patio has a fire pit under the trees.
